Phoebe Philo Does It Again
Philo has the final word (and laugh) as fashion month ends.
I love it when an unassuming Thursday turns into a revelation - because Phoebe Philo drops her latest lookbook with no further ado. Collection E - the autumn-winter 2026 offering, arriving in June- is a testament to Philo’s profound, instinctive understanding of women: nothing superfluous, no noise, no strings attached.
She has the final word as the endless fashion month of shows and presentations wrapped last week - and the last laugh, too. While other designers are still guessing (and second-guessing) contemporary women and their needs, Philo simply delivers: a collection so concise and assured you can rely on it without a shade of doubt.
Whether it’s a peplum teddy-bear jacket in rich chestnut, a sculpted little hat with just the right dose of arty quirk, a pair of red patent-leather pumps glossier than your newest lipstick, or a leather coat so butter-smooth and precisely cut it fits like a glove - or even those badass, slightly oversized leather overalls - Phoebe fucking knows what’s up.
Her continuous approach to the wardrobe never gets boring. The best-selling high-rise bomber returns this season in pastel pink, looking just as fresh as it did back in Collection A. Philo’s brand is a universe of its own - mimicked and copied by others - but what they lack is that confident instinct and taste for mischief. Just look at the “naked” T-shirt dress or the shaved blue shearling hoodie: pieces that will no doubt be wildly coveted (and priced), but once you own them, you truly own them.
And of course, the secret ingredient to Phoebe’s sauce: the cast of women in her lookbook. From Binx Walton - who, alongside Daria Werbowy, has come to personify Philo’s body of work - to a group of striking, self-possessed, mature women who command presence with a single glance, these women - real, flesh-and-blood, not AI-generated avatars - make you want, ache, even, to join their club.
I love seeing Phoebe win.
